What kind of memory card is it? If it was an SD card I would probably try splitting it, inserting the blade between the 2 halves, with a stanley knife blade near the lock and see if i could flick the switch with a pin or something similar. Bearing in mind cut fingers or lost data is a risk.New PV club member. 3.99kW system. Solar Edge with 14 x 285W JA Solar panels. 55° West from south and 35° pitch.0

its a transcend SD HC Card.
i can see inside of the card, because the lock fell off. i do not see anywhere where i can flick the switch. (the switch /lock is the thing that fell off!)0 -
Do you still have the switch/lock?blaque*angel wrote: »its a transcend SD HC Card.

It likely has some contacts on one side that bridges 2 points in the card to allow the card to be read. Some conductive paint, like the stuff for fixing heating elements in rear windows in cars could help. If you get it in the wrong place you could ruin it further.New PV club member. 3.99kW system. no, it fell off (switch/lock) i cant find it.
conductive paint? will i find that in hardware shops?
i have tried to put tin foil where the lock was to no avail.0 -
Halfords sells it as a paint to join breaks in the rear screen demisters, other car parts places may have it too. I used it to repair a remote control once. You could try in Maplins also.
Anyone with any other or better ideas?New PV club member. 3.99kW system. Solar Edge with 14 x 285W JA Solar panels. 55° West from south and 35° pitch.0 -
i read a few blogs which say put tape or foil over where the lock was, but it dont work

If the foil doesn't make a good contact it won't work. If you want you could try using a very soft pencil and draw between the 2 contacts and put fiol on top. Graphite is a good conductor and may help a little.blaque*angel wrote: »i read a few blogs which say put tape or foil over where the lock was, but it dont work
