I am looking for a portable hard drive to back up my pc stuff and saw this one advertised at Netto on Monday for £39.99. Is it any good?

NO NO NO!
250GB for 40 squid I just bought a WD 1TB (four times bigger) for 70.0 -
Depends on whether it's a 2.5" or 3.5" drive and whether this matters to the OP.0

It isn't bad for £40 and being 2.5" with USB powered but there are other brands like Western Digital for a little more and I would trust them more than Verbattim. Especially as you may come to rely on it for a backup.I am looking for a portable hard drive to back up my pc stuff and saw this one advertised at Netto on Monday for £39.99. Is it any good?

i bought a WD drive based on reviews sayings its gives quality service. However, if you buy a backup drive and you expect to be carrying it around, youre better of buying one with a anti-shock property. I accidentally dropped my WD unit at a height of ~1ft and the case all opened up at the joints.
I bought a cheap NDS case from ebayfor my unit, fits perfectly and cheaper than buying a proper case!0 -
You can get a 500GB Western Digital My Passport Essential Portable Hard Drive for £60 if you order online and collect instore. Unfortunately it's PC world, but you can't have everything - I got one last week, and am well pleased for the price.
that's not too shabby for PC World, surprised they didn't try to flog you Norton at the same time.0 -

£56.33 from amazon, if you don't mind waiting a little (may take 2 days to deliver according to site).
Edit: just realised the drives are different.0
