URGENT help really needed, baking question

I have just been an total idiot. I'm baking these muffins for the school fair today:
http://www.chocolate-source.co.uk/chocolate_recipes_muffins_chocaholics_dream_muffins.htm

and used plain flour! Argh!

I have not yet put them in the oven is there any way to rescue them? The ingredients cost a bit so don't really want to put them in the bin!

:confused:

    Sprinkle some baking powder over (use a sieve, that will help to give even coverage. I would then add slighly more liquid, give a gentle mix. Leave for a few mins to let the powder start to act then bake as normal. HTH I made a cherry and coconut cake once, scraped the bowl and realised I hadn't put the sugar in, you aren't on your own!

    btw pack will tell you how much BP to use

    That's a LOT for that quantity of flour, though I'm sure it makes sense in Penny's recipe.

    To be on the safe side, for your recipe, I'd add baking powder in the proportion 1 tsp baking powder for every 4 oz of flour. That's all SR flour is, anyway-plain flour with baking powder added.
    import this
  • I'm sure they will be fine, if they don't turn out right just call them something else . . .

    Wow, they are waaaay too nice for a school fair :eek:! What a thoughtful parent you are - I sent a batch of twinks yesterday (have a constant supply of them in our house)! Save me one please, they look 'licious ;)

    ps. Send them in if they don't turn out quite right with a note saying that your DS/DD made them - always good for the ahhhhh factor :D

    Hmmm, really giving an insight into my idea of parenthood aren't I? Think I'll shut up now! Happy baking and good luck x

    That what I thought, so I used the scientific method of bung some in and see. Right jump in the shower, get dressed, see what disater is in the oven and fly to school (probably via tesco or asda!). Oh boy I like to cut it fine.

    LOL oh well - keep smiling!
