Just got a P45 - still employed?!?!

Has someone scammed your details and claimed benefits?, as a P45 from the DWP would normally signify you coming off benefits as per dmg24's post. Have a look at the gross and nett pay figures, and tax code, and tax on the P45 against your pay advice from your employers. If it gives a figure for an amount of a "taxable benefit" which you haven't claimed phone the DWP on Monday and tell them you think your identity may have been stolen, and also check with your employers HR dept pdq.0

There is no pay figures on these documents at all - on part two it has no figures, then on part 1a, the job seekers allowance page it has all my details and then my postal code in Leicester - but it gives a job centre plus address of leeds.
It seems really odd as I have had no change in work circumstances or benefits...
It came with no explanation. nothing...0 -
Best option then is to check on Monday, as if you have had no contact with the DWP, they shouldn't be sending you blank P45's.0

Ok well after cdalling every department under the sun and being passed from pillar to post I finally got someone helpful in the tax office to speak to about this.
Apparently I was signed on for benefits for three days (not by me in any way whatsoever) which also happens to be the time when they implemented a new system in the tax office.
Apparently the guy I spoke to had three of these exact situations last week and he can't explain it - they'll call me back in the next couple of days after they have investigated it.
I am not in anyway impressed nor happy about this - its caused untold amounts of problems over the weekend - not surprisingly so in my opinion and someone should be held to rights for this.0 -
I doubt that your employer would send out a P45 statement if you are already working there unless it was a mistake. However you have stated that the employer's details is not on the statement. Strange.
I have had this happen to me once, when the employer went from being a partnership to a limited co... but the p45 came from the employer with an expalnation as to why not through the post from a benefits office.

Im absolutely livid - I have heard back from the tax office, its all a complete mistake - blamed on a computer system glitch - but the tax office are blaming the DWP and now theres no way to reach the DWP as all numbers point to everyone else but the DWP themselves...
Trying to decide what I should do about this next - I am not going to let it drop, as its apparent someones realised what they've done, corrected it and yet not felt it appropriate to let me know...0
