shiny stainless steel sink?
spirit
Morning all,
I have a stainless steel sink which is only about 3 years old. I clean the draining board with white vinegar which always brings it up nice and shiny. The bowl however is always dull. I give it the occasional bleach to stop the drain from smelling.
Is there anything I can use to make this shiny again? I watched an old edition of How Clean is Your House last week but just missed what they used on such a sink!
Many thanks

Baby oil then buff with dry soft cloth0

I always use diluted bleach to make mine shiny - but you need to rinse it down and then dry it off with a tea towel (particularly if you live in a really hard water area like I do - otherwise you get limescale all over your shiny sink!!)0

I use Barkeeper's Friend if the sink is pretty dirty/stained or whatever, I'd never heard of it until I got my new sink from Franke, they recomended it.
If it just needs a polish up, I use Shiny Sinks.Herman - MP for all!

My stainless steel sink is looking really tarnished and grubby. What's the best way to bring it back?
Thanks.0 -
Bleach and a pan scrubber or cif, I think.0

Probably not very OS but my Mum swears by some stuff called 'shiny sinks' you can get it in supermarkets. I think its possibly in an orange bottle. Otherwise I would probably give it a good soak filled with warm water and bleach then try scrubbing any stubborn areas with bicarb?!0

Hi Wendy,
I just use diluted bleach in hot water. Leave it to soak for a short time then rinse away.
There's a recent thread with more suggestions so I'll add your thread to it to keep the ideas together.

Bicarb and a scrubby will shine a sink pretty well. I use that or BKF. You just need to rinse it well.
Drying it helps with spots as does coating it with a thin layer of oil. Baby oil was mentioned upthread, but you can use almost oil or polish that's non-toxic.0 -
Will second barkeepers friend. Also JMLs Spotless paste though i'm struggling to find it lately. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0
