Does it have to be UHT milk?
How long will it keep in the fridge for?
What do you use as a starter, pot of live yog?

Home made yogurt sounds good but I haven't got anywhere warm to put it, next to the boiler's all manky and it'd probably get infected with something nasty!
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

No it doesn't - but the milk need to be sterile so there are no competitors for the bacteria which are in your starter. Normal milk isn't sterile, so you'd need to boil it for a protracted period.

In short: Use UHT - it's a lot easier.

That depends on a lot of factors. When you keep it in the fridge, it is still alive, and is still becoming "more yoghurty" like it was in the warm place, just much more slowly. Eventually it gets so yoghurty, that it develops little hard balls where the milk has completely solidified. This ruins the texture, but tend not to be that bad a taste.

That happened to me when I had it in the fridge for just over a fortnight. I wouldn't have dared leave a dead yoghurt that long though.

Just a spoon's worth of live yoghurt - you can eat the rest.

Put it in a plastic bag then...
