A DFW update for me.
After careful thought and deliberation, I have given my 2 lovely pedigree cats to a close friend and her husband to have temp or maybe permanently.
Please dont judge me as this took a lot of guts to do and I'm not heartless by any means!
Due to them being at my parents house whose 1 out of 2 dogs wants to pick them up like toys and play, they were being kept in a room and only having a run around the house for a couple of hours a day. Due to my housing situation I am not sure when this would be changing.
My friend and her hubby had been looking for a cat of the same breed so I mentioned my 2. They have kindly taken them on board until I get myself sorted which could be up to a year but are willing to keep them permanently if I wanted them to. They are going to keep their names and I'm always goin over to theirs anyway so will still see them.
Doing this will save me a bit of money but also gives them a whole house to runaround rather than just a room.

Cant have been an easy decision to make, sounds like youve thought it through though.
I dont think what youve done is heartless at all
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...

It's heartbreaking giving up a pet. I'd feel lost without my two tabbys, But I commend you, you have obviously given them to a loving home which can't have been an easy decision to make.
i am sure when you are sorted you may get them back and will enjoy them even more.

i don't think you're heartless. it must have been a difficult decision to make. at the end of the day i feel you're being a responsible pet owner in making sure that they have the best life possible.
i hope you get sorted sooner than you expect so you can have them back with you

I think thats really brave. I'd miss my wee dog so much, she just brightens up my day no matter how awful its been, I can't imagine the house without her. But it sounds like you've done whats best for your cats, and thats a really brave move. Hope you get to pop round with treats for them on a regular basis.0

Hugs. Couldn't imagine being without my baby (even though he can't seem to hit the litter tray). You are doing whats best for them if our cat was locked in a room all day he would cry.Barclaycard 3800

Devastating for you, it must have been so hard to say goodbye to them, but I think you acted in the best interest of the cats - your actions are the complete opposite of heartless, you acted completely selflessly.Debt Oct 2005: £32,692.94

I don't think you've been heartless at all, you've made sure that they have gone to someone responsible. And at least you can still go and visit them.Tesco: £1361.19, Vanquis: £2644.73, Very: £563.08, Next: £1636.95, M&S: £1049.92. As of 5th February 2024. Slava Ukraini0

Cheers all for the replies. Yes I did have the old lump in the throat and had cried earlier in the day just in the cats company but when ti came to my friend picking them up, I had my neice with me so I couldnt get upset in front of her which helped. The cats looked a bit narked with me but I know they will understand.
I spoke to my friend last night and she said they were hiding for the first night but have started to come out and investigate

Hugs Bluezone. Its so hard to do what you have done - but as others have said it is probably best for the cats. Would hate it if mine was a dogs plaything - he's too old at 18, treats our Labrador with such distain its really funny. if only they could talk...0
