Item damaged in transit..What Now??
Comments

If the item was well packaged enough for it not to be damaged in transit, then its at the hands of the delivery company used.
If you failed to provide enough packaging then its down to youself to take the hit. Saving an £1 on extra bubble-wrap / box may have cost you £££.
I would ask the buyer to send you a quick picture of the damage and the packaging if they can.
After all, they could have received the item and damaged it themselves after a refund..0 -
Hi
In need of some advice, i recently bought a lot of memorabilia and paid via paypal, in total i received 3 boxes of various items (vinyl records, books, magazines, framed items, mirrors,etc.. however when the boxes arrived they had been held at the courier depot and repacked because they had spilled out in transit because they had been so badly packaged by the seller, the boxes were sealed by taping wall paper over the box as lids and none of the items had been protected in any way they had just been thrown in the box. On expection alot of items have been damaged such as the records, framed items and mirrors, there was also alot of items missing that was listed to be included and other items were simply not as described. My question is what happens now that i have opened a dispute in paypal as i have got no response from the seller, some of the items are ok and I am happy to keep them but obviously expect a significant refund from the seller as atleast a £100 worth of items are damaged or missing. If i have to return the items do i just return the damaged goods and keep the items i am happy with/ in which case will i be refunded once proof of delivery is confirmed? Any help greatly appreciated0 -
Also what happens if the seller does not have the funds in his account to refund me, if i send all the goods back including the undamaged items i could lose all my money and be left with nothing,0

This is bloody disgusting paypal have just closed my claim
We're unable to decide this claim in your favour at this time. PayPal's Buyer Complaint Policy applies to the delivery of goods but not to disputes about merchandise quality.
I am completely baffled by this why didn't they request i send the items back for a refund?0 -
phone them and say that the item was packaged wrong by the seller which:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one

phone them and say that the item was packaged wrong by the seller which lead to the item being broke when received and that you have photos to prove this. Did the courier appologise and give you a note to say it was broke when delivered (like Royal Mail does?):T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one

I just put in an appeal requesting to submit photographic evidence so i'll see what happens. the courier did not leave a note, but there is a record online of what happened. I never realised paypal would not protect me if the items are damaged and go missing in transit. i cannot prove one way or another if the seller deliberately left out items or if the courier has light fingers.0

Was this an ebay purchase? If it was then definitely get back to paypal and appeal their decision. If it wasn't an ebay purchase then they are correct as paypal do not offer buyer protection for items not as described or damaged unless bought on ebay.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
