Engaged tone with TalkTalk

Hi, Is anyone else having problems with their talktalk phone line?
I have only been with them since Monday, I've had lots of little problems since.
Today everyone on BT and mobiles are having problems getting through to me as they just get an engaged tone. My family and friends on talktalk are getting through ok.
I have spent four hours on and off the phone to them trying to sort it out. After speaking to my niece I found she is having the same problem, but she thought it was her phone and was going out tomorrow to buy new ones. We don't live near each other so it is deffinitely a problem with talktalk not the exchange.
I have since been on the talktalk forum to see others complaining about the problem, some for a couple of weeks.
The annoying thing was the talktalk advisor didn't acknowlege there's a problem and tried to get me to find and pay for an engineer to come out and sort it.
So I was just wondering how many others are having the same problem.

Thank you both. :A
I have now posted on the talktalk forum and will see if this does any better then phoning. There's a few other peoples on there with the same problem so it does look widespread.
The main problem is our son is out in Afghan and phone calls are few and far between, the thought of missing one because of this is worrying. (Yes, we are sad and don't venture very far from the phone nowadays just in case he phones, but it's what having a loved one out there does to you.)
Oh well, it looks like I might be paying more to have BT's reliable service.£2021 in 2021 no.17 £1,093.20/£20210 -
Hi Jeanmd,
This issue has now been logged as an incident. For information it is affecting a number of customers on both LLU and WLR services so it does not apear to be unique to TalkTalks network. We'll continue to provide updates to you on the TalkTalk forums.
Cheers

My mother had been getting the same thing now for weeks and it's getting beyond a joke!
We are going to have to ditch them the same way we had to ditch Tiscali when they turned so !!!!!
Awful that this is deemed acceptable service from this company!0 -
My mother is experiencing this fault, this has been ongoing now for nearly 4 weeks! She was told if a BT Engineer found the fault in the house she would be charged from £160. Is this true, also talktalk advised me to buy a new box to plug the phone in then to be told by openreach not to do do this ! The phone rings once then cuts off. There were BT engineers working outside her property about a month ago and we reckon they have done something that has triggered off this problem.0

I had no issues all this while...
Wonder what went wrong.0
