My daughter just moved into new flat 3weeks ago today received gas bill for£200 she phoned bg to sort out they took her name and address and said she was liable this can't be correct what can she do?

Does she have the meter reading from when she moved in? If not she should work out a pro rata reading from the bill (from the date of the reading on the bill and when she moved in).

She should then write in (don't bother telephoning) and give them the date she moved in and her estimated reading. (It's always a lot easier with these things to take the reading as soon as you move in.) As long as she writes a clear and straightforward letter things will resolve eventually. (It will probably take an iteration or three, though.)

(And if she hasn't already checked the electricity...)
