Washing powder bleaching clothes

I have always used Tesco Colour powder on my clothes but have recently found that when I have washed them the places where the stains were (on the kids clothes) they have lighter patches on them which kind of looks like the stain has been bleached. Sounds wierd, has anyone else had this experience? I am finding that t-shirts and tops are being ruined and they are now and it is costing me a fortune. Clothes I am saving for 'best' are now having top be used as play clothes. Help. Any ideas? I have used this for about 6 years now and no problems at all, this has started in the last 3 months.

if you have a lesser amount of water around the clothes(usually overloading the machine) it can cause bleach spots as the water cannot circulate properly, try putting less clothes in at a time and see if that helps, the only other option is to try and get compo from the manufacturer of the detergent, which is impossible even if you had 8+ years working for zanussi as a service technician like me0

OK, thanks will try that. We have one of those bigger size machines already. Maybe it will be better to wash the heavily stained stuff (ie my sons, LOL) on their own so they get the maximum wash. Just hate to have the machine on so much with the water shortages. Thank you. I will give Tesco a call though and mention this as I have not had a problem before, just recently.0

i use that same washing powder, but haven't come accross any problems.
occasionally if i have loaded the machine up too much some of the clothes have a little powder residue on them, where it didn't get rinsed enough, but the brushes off.0 -
my mum had the same bleach spots on clothes. I told her she was craming too many clothes in at a time. problem solved. I think you are ment to be able to put your straight arm in the machine and the clothes not be above your arm or you squashing them down. dont know where I got it from but I have no trouble.Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0

Thanks for the posts. I am having the same trouble even on half loads. I called Tesco CS and they told me to take the clothes into a store and they will investgate further. I spoke to the lady in there on CS and she told me there was a problem with the granules dissolving as well so she changed. Thing is, if no one ever says anything the suppliers never know.0

I have had this problem too, not with Tesco powder, which I don't use, but with Fairy tablets and Persil. I have switched to liquid in desperation, as so many of my clothes have been destroyed. I guess I could be overloading the machine sometimes, so must keep an eye on that.
On a tangent, I only use half the recommended amount of liquid/powder. Saves a little bit of cash, and the clothes wash just as effectively. (Apart from the bleaching! LOL!)0
