Karrimor Rucksacks with 70% off

  • I hadn't realised Karrimor had gone bust - mind you saying that I'm not surprised - I bought a pair of decent walking boots (Karrimor leather + gortex ones (140 odd quid) ) and they were dreadful - the leather filled up with water like a sponge.

    Mark.

I take it you didn't treat them to watherproofing then? The goretex is a layer under the leather that protects your feet as a barrier to water yet still letting them breathe. It doesn't make the leather waterproof. I have some KSB boots that I got for a steal in the sales £60 IIRC and they are fantastic (and waterproof :) )

They don't watherproof them before purchase as people like to put their own favourite product on them ;)

Just picked up a couple of Karrimor rucksacks from Soccer sports today - the daysack had 50 % off and the rucksack had 70% off. Both good bargains.

The best deals were the Bobcat and Panther, which were reduced from £100 and £70 down to £30 and £20 respectively.

Preparation for a summer treck! ;D
I've also noticed that there are a number of places selling Karrimor boots very cheap (soccer sport was one). My sons walking boots were about £10.
The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.

The best place for boots, believe or not, is Lidl. £10 a pair for flexible fabric. At that price, you can buy one for eacvh major trip and still usable for local walks. They do workmans same style with steel toecap, still fairly light for doing the rocks.
And agree Karrimoor quality, have a day sack many years old.
A word of warning. I did the Coast to Coast with a friend, be was carrying 60lb, I had 18lb. We both got there. And 18lb will go in a 25litre rucksack, add a plastic liner, and buy the cheapest. Caution tho, you need something more substantial for winter.

This offer has been on for at least the past year!

There's a guy who regularly buys up sackfuls of Karrimor rucksacks from the Sports World store in Piccadilly Circus (previously Lillywhites). Presumably these are the ones eventually sold on ebay!

Mind you, Karrimor quality isn't what it used to be. Materials are much thinner than those of old and I noticed several of the smaller daypacks had already got loose stitching instore. In some the zip had completely come away from the fabric - so do check items carefully before you purchase! I guess lifetime warranties mean nothing now that the company has gone bust!
  • Is this offer still on then? Fruitcake appears to have resurrected this thread from more than 12 months ago.

Is it worth a trip to Sports World?

They still sell a number of small Karrimor daysacks (20-25l approx). The serious stuff has long gone...
