Hello Horseyluver89. Its great you have a strong ambition, and getting singing lessons is exactly the right thing to do. Learning the piano is also very, very useful.
What I would suggest is that before thinking about fame you work on being the very best you can be. Voices do mature, and a good teacher will help you develop your voice and skill without pushing you too far too quickly. But show you how to use your muscles propery, how to stand well for using your voice without strain and how to make the best of your voice. When you are ready you can start entering local music contests, against other people your age which will give you good performance experience, even if its not the type of music you are interested in.
Getting experience in the other arts is also useful, dance and acting might not seem to improve the voice, but they do, both in performance style and in dance, in the case of fitness. If you have school plays auditioning for roles, and if you are lucky, getting them will also be good, and local amateur dramatic societies might well be putting on musicals you could try out for.
You might even live near somewhere that does Saturday school in performing arts, though this might be a bit expensive for your parents.
Even answering uestions, and doing things that require speaking in front of your class in school subjects will help build your confidence in performing.
Does your school and/or local church/place of worship relevant to you have a choir? This is great experience.
So, for the time being I'd recommend knuckling down to your singing lessons and learning to read music well and getting general performance experience.0 -
hi horseylover
its great that you have a dream - but do you want to be a singer or do you want to be famous?
if you put your heart and soul into becoming the best singer you can be - then at the right time - fame may well come calling - but, be warned, many famous people dont like being famous! try reading some famous peoples biographies before you pursue fame and try to imagine how you would feel being them.
but if thats what you want to do - go for it!!!0 -
As well as taking singing lessons, I would also recommend learning either piano or guitar, and maybe try writing your own songs. Make sure you take all the music options at school, and do GCSE music too.
In the mean time, I would also work hard at other academic stuff and have a back up career, as the music industry is REALLY hard to get into, so whilst trying to get your break, a high paid job will help you pay for things like recording studios, getting yourself heard etc...Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0
