  • sorry i didn't mean any offence, to be honest the more i think about it the more i think that your employer should have thought about this before the office move ( anticipatory duty)

didn't realise you had wrote that letter lol - it's very good. i honestly think the letter should be enough. I think if you send that and perhaps ask for a meeting with a disability adviser ( Job centre plus have dedicated staff who can help with issues around adjustments) and i'm sure if you look on your local councils website they will have a person which you can contact and ask for advice. just a thought.

i really do sympathise - i'm not just saying it....i work at a college and support students with disabilities and i can empathise with how frustrating and worrying this may be for you.

Unfortunately, I believe they extended the rental agreement, before the council made the decision on the parking. We've known about the move for months now, but only today were they told about the parking. I think my employer assumed parking would be provided, as it has done in all the years they've shared the office space.

Thanks very much. :) Yeah, I will see what they respond to my employers letter, then send the letter and start asking to speak to people. Even if I don't get them to change their mind, I hope to at least annoy them greatly! ;)

    Thank you for your support!

Its far more likely your employer refused to pay for parking.

Have a word with your local councillor about this and ask them to stick up for you. They love annoying council officers, and love getting their own way even more.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

    Wrong.

And I am just adding this, because it says it's too short!

No council on earth would rent out an office and not try and line their pockets by selling off car parking too.

Haha, thanks, I will do. Once my employer gets a response, I will start sending letters to everyone I can think of.

They are sharing office space, not renting a seperate building out. They want the parking space for their own staff, I suppose.

Look - my employer will HAVE to pay for my parking anyway as it is company policy to do so and has already said she would.

She is going to have to pay for parking in a very expensive public car park, so cost is not the issue.

    How naive

Ok firstly no council would turn down cash just to give their staff more parking, secondly its likely the council asked for a large amount or minimum commitment to space and this is why. Running car parks isnt cheap.

I dont for a second believe this is anything other than financial bargaining here.

Oh for heaven's sake. That is not the case here.

They would have taken plenty of spaces had they been able to, and paid for them. It wasn't an option.

The council are making plenty of money charging their members of staff for the spaces.

My employer also knows I'm going to write to loads of people in the council. If she knows they're going to turn around and say 'um, we offered them a space/spaces for x amount and they didn't want to pay it' - she probably would either confess, or try and put me off writing to them.
