advice on help for access travel expenses

We have custody of my husbands children. The mother has them every other weekend. on the sunday we have to do a 200mile round trip to collect them. this is costing us over £120 per month. which has to come out of my husbands sickness benefit. we are finding it hard to manage. the mother has a working partner. Can we get help.

This m ight be a silly question, but have you approached the children's Mother about sharing at least some of the cost?

You could go through the csa to get money?
  • Can we get maintenance.......she would do anything to not give us money. i said we should not let her have them twice a month but its a court order, so we have to keep struggling to do it.
  • I have to go off line. thanku for replies. more views welcome.....
We are thinking now of going the csa route.

Yes you should be able to get maintenence, you have custody of the kids so you can put a claim in against her. It would be the same if she had them she would persue your partner through csa if she wasnt getting any money

If she is not willing to pay child support via a private agreement, then I strongly urge you to go via the CSA. If the boot was on the other foot, I doubt she would think twice about applying.

I'd approach her one more time for a proposal of child support through you both privately and advise her if she won't come to an agreement you have no other choice but to contact the CSA.
