                    Hi
My partner and I bought a property (flat - leasehold) in 2007. Since then it has been a bit of a nightmare.
I won't bore you with the details, as I could go on for eternity. Main point is we are registered with the land registry as Flat 3. But when it comes to the council/post office database we are clumped together as Flat 1-3. Does anyone know if there's any reason why we can't change it to Flat 3, or was our landlord just being lazy?
Kind Regards
Tom

            Ring the council and ask.
Ring the post office and ask.
(You mean there's only one addres for council tax purposes?

            Hi poppysarah
 jee wizz that was quick!
When it comes to council tax they happily split us into individual flats, just its been a nightmare for electricity bills as we were paying for Flat 2's electricity (on going battle), and the owner is convinced we're not.
I'm just apprehensive about phoning as I don't want to be landed with charges (which I can't afford at the moment) if the flats haven't been properly converted??
The post office originally had us down as Flat A/Flat B. Which they changed, but only to Flat 1-3.
 Kind Regards

I would provide the council tax and electricity/post office with a copy of the Land registry documentation, hopefully that should sort the whole thing out.

Hi thanks for your reply, this is one of my main concerns. As I maybe naively thought that this is what you are partly paying a solicitor to find out?? There are definately separate electricity supplies for Flat 2 & 3 (Flat 1 is supposedly on a prepay meter). As for gas there are 3 boxes outside ( but there is also a shop under the flats). As for water I'm not sure how to check that? (but our bills don't seem unduly high).
 What were your thoughts?

Do you have the meter for " just its been a nightmare for electricity bills as we were paying for Flat 2's electricity (on going battle" in your property or sole access to it?
Empty your fridge (to avoid waste) and turn it (the whole fuseboard if that's how it's connected) off for a day. Soon see if they're paying for their electric then.
Unless it's split before it comes in to yours obviously.0

            Hi poppysarah
The 2 meters are just outside our internal front door, so we have been on the phone with both companies - conducting tests turning our electric of for periods so we are 100% which meter we should be paying for. At the moment (touch wood) we're being billed for our meter.
But as our neighbour is convinced that she is right I don't hold my breath that it will stay that way for long.
 Thanks for the reply
