Hard Times, does it get better

I know there are many worse off than myself, but just having a really down moment. Im trying to sort myself out with my debts (currently getting a DMP set up) but i just cant help thinking what a let down ive been with regard to my debts.

Im having to give up my dream job to try and get something more regualr as the ups and downs of being self employed arent helping. Im a self emplioyed personal trainer and due to other things in my life i cant cope with the "what will come in this month in terms of money" my girlfriend is being very supportive to me but at times im just really down, at least the wrld cup is on at the moment :o . I had an inerview for a job friday which is not what i thought id be doing, but its guarenteed money and more than what im getting so will help with reducing my debt.

Im not sure why im writing this, maybe to have a rant and i know some of you have or are in the same situation and just from reading the board i can tell its a friendly place.

im just at a real low right now, with my debt, and other things in my life, do they get better ??

dont think any of this has helped as i sorted out my letters i had to get sent back to payplan today from my creditors, i only opened last weeks today and its not nice seeing letter after letter demanding money or court, hope payplan hurry up

One thing I have found is that if you are really really down then the only possible way to go is up and sometimes you have to hit rockbottom before you start to climb again. It could be that when you look back from 5 years in the future you see this as the beginning of a better stage in your life. I know this is not much help now but please try to believe that things will improve. You have support at home and here - we're all on your side!!!

Hope you can continue to do some training as a hobby and maybe when things aren't as tight you can start your business again?

    Good luck anyway.

  • yes it does get better, you've taken the first steps and the early days are always harder.

This is the right place to come for support and for a rant.

It is shame that you having to go back to regular boring job. But once you have knocked this debt on the head then you can go back to doing your dream job of a personal trainer.

Fancy coming around my house. I need a kick up the bum to get and exercise :rotfl:

Just think of it as a temp set back and you will be back better than before.

    All the best.

thanks for your quick and friendly replies. maybe i should come on here and give tips on here for people. im actually going to try and do PT around my new boring job if i can, even if its just friends and family who i go and train down the gym with or round their house.

just realised another hurting thing atm is me selling a lot of stuff on ebay which is upsetting. hopefully im on the way back up just having a mental laps. think im just having a bad time of late, its coming upto 5 years since my best mate died on me when we was out one night, and im only 22. that escelated a lot of my spending due to it being like a barrier and i could hide my upset by going spending.

    thanks again for listening

Life is what you make it. Let the banks stress about money and debt. In the end the worst they can do is make you bankrupt. sod em

    Sounds awful mate.

However you will get through it just trrry to take it a step at a time. I have hit rock bottom a few times and I am currently obsessed with not defaulting on my mortgage.
If you take the boring job and sometimes you just have to, you will still have all the experience and qualifications to go back to the cool one when things improve. Like they said above maybe just have a couple of out of hours clients (Sounds dodgy!!) to keep up some references and those to recommend you.
This site is very supportive and there are loads of kind people for you to lean on. Have agood rant if you want.
How about the old list system or a illustration for yourself of where you are now where you want to be and the steps you want to take to get there? If you feel as though someone has whisked your brain and you can't do it yourself you might want to ask here and we'll all have a go. We can't promise to agree with eachother though!

Did you get counselling? Sorry if this is personal, you don't have to go into it. I just hope you were supported through such a horrific time.

It's a huge cliche but I see getting out of debt as a little bit like a getting on a rollercoaster when you're scared of heights. Taking the first step is so hard, but you force yourelf to do it. You have your ups and downs, little moments of exhilaration when you pay things off or see the progress you make, feel sick when you look down, but keep looking at the finish line and run like heck when you get off vowing never to come back!

First time I've written that down, and it's rubbish! But you get my drift. Keep going! Things get better x

dont worry, i know its weird but feel easier talking on here. i never got counselling just had very good group of mates, and as i said, i think the spending got in the way, i done about 10k of my total 27k debts in a year on stupid stuff, i had the attitutde i cud die tomo, no im regretting it lol.

I will keep a few clients even if i just go into the gym and train and train with them cos u have to pay a rent at gyms to train people. Really hope i get this boring job, never thought id say that ever but needs must.

this may sound like im blaming my mate for my debt, but i aint, just my life has been a mess, and now im with a girl that i love and adore im finally wanting to sort myself out, and im that stubborn i refused an IVA cos i got myself into debt, ill get out :D
