I didn't think you were allowed to do a raffle on eBay.

  • On ebay, What you are allowed to do, and what you are able to do are vet different things. There are so many breaches in that sellers listings...

You're not allowed, but they can't check all items posted there so rely on people reporting things to them, then checking each report. Obviously hasn't been done in this case.

If I could be bothered to log in I would report them. The all captials listing makes it very suspicous and is it 10% or 50% they are giving away. The only thing is I thought there was a minuim donation. So 10% of 99p is 9.9p donation but it may end up being a lot more they have to give away if there is. Its a clever money making scheme. No start fees as its under 99p. Nothing to post. No outlay. Just wait for the cash to come in and then make up a winner.

Hmmmm. I suppose you could bid, pay via paypal and then claim for an INR if you didn't win. They don't say how many "tickets" are available, but with more than 300 left thats potentially 299 INR disputes?....if eBay don't pull the listing.

    That'd teach them a lesson. ;)

More likely there'll either be a) no winner, or b) a shill bidder that wins (so they win it themself.

So they've made £30 minus FVF and Paypal fees.

  • I've been reporting raffles as I find them for Go Go Hamsters. I had to ask on that thread what the correct way to report it is:
    Report Item
    Listing Policy Breaches
    Inappropriate Seller terms
    Using ebay for Raffle

I've done about a dozen, but when I checked earlier there were 31 that I could see!

I've given up reporting them. eBay don't seem to care. And people are oh so happy that they're giving to "charity"...

  • I saw one that had sold over 250 tickets and was so generously giving 10% to charity. This was for just 2 hamsters (though all 4 were pictured).

I reported one listing that wouldn't take paypal (wanted cheque or postal orders only). So much for buyer protection! Doubt ebay will do anything!
