I recently bought pet insurance and i phoned them up today as i've noticed that no payment has been taken out of my account and no policy docs. They've advised policy docs sent out on the start date of the policy (so should be on its way) but...

They've advised that as it was late in November 2009, my premium won't be taken out till 2nd Jan 2010. Isn't this a bit strange??

In the event that i had to make a claim wouldnt they argue that they haven't recieved the premium. Usually insurance companies are very quick to get the premium.

No, you should be covered from day 1. I imagine the policy was taken out too late to meet the payment date in December (sounds like it would have been 2 December) so 2 January would be the next date they could take payment.

Ive been given January dates for some domestic insurance I took out a few days back. Im sure you need not worry

Did you get an email confirmation of the start date? (You should have used quidco for some cash back)
