I am looking for some software that I can download and burn to CD which will boot up prior to Windows and test all hardware on my PC for any conflicts / problems.
I have seen this software
http://www.micro2000.co.uk/products/microscope/features.htm
I think this would do the job but costs £129+VAT
I have an intermitent hardware problem that is really doing my head in and if anyone knows of a free alternative it would be apprecaited.
Thank you

Its linux ist a LiveCD, basically an OS on a cd. Download it burn it to a CD, boot the computer up with the cd selected in the BIOS as the first boot media follow the options shown to test it instead of install it. It will boot into desktop running from the cd, therefore testing your hardware without touching your harddrive, unless you mount it, or your installed (windows) OS.0 -
Microsoft Sysinternals might be worth investigating, although parts may be a little more advanced than what you want..0

Simply booting a Live Linux distro to the desktop is not the same as running a comprehensive diagnostic suite. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -

Neither did I say it was. However if the hardware issue suddenly works with a different OS its a software issue.0 -
The Linux-based Ultimate Boot CD is free and has a variety of hardware analysis tools (hard disk scanning, memory tests, etc.)0

It is definitely not a software issue.0
