Where would you recommend??

I'm looking to get a holiday for summer booked shortly. Just wondering if anyone has been anywhere that completely exceeded all expectations?

I'm looking to book a nice holiday for two that's not too expensive (either to get to or whilst you're out there)

I want it to be a nice place with enough to keep you occupied for a week (i.e. cultural, not one of these resorts that resembles blackpool apart from the weather).

I'm looking for ideas somewhere Prague/Vienna - esque. I've never tried Vienna either so if anyone has been how was it??

I went to Vienna a couple of years ago for a couple of nights and it was no way near long enough. It's a glorious city with plenty of things to do.

How about combining it with a trip to Salzburg? You can fly there with Ryanair - then get the train (a beautiful scenic journey) to Vienna.

My favourite place that I'm dying to go back to is Lausanne in Switzerland. Not an ounce of Blackpool (or Skeggy) in sight. Far from it. Just a short train ride away is Geneva.

Alternatively, Lake Annecy in France. I stayed at a place called "Le Cottage" in a village called Talloires through Inghams Lakes and Mountains Brochure. It's a short boat ride across the lake to Annecy itself. Flights would be to Geneva airport and then a transfer to Talloires.
