Hi. This is my very first post
Looking for a wee bit advice. I found out yesterday that I have been charged twice for something I bought at Tesco online on 5th nov(£8.99(taken out 6th nov), then charged cheaper price of £8.70(on 23rd Nov) on price promise-although £8.99(from 6th) has not been refunded)
This has taken me overdrawn by 18p( I knew at beginning of week I had approx £9 left, and had only bought a £1.72 drink on 23rd-so Tesco charge has completely thrown me).
Bank of Scotland is now trying to charge me £63 for this
. £35 for not having the funds available, then £28 for going overdrawn(I don't have an overdraft).
They will not refund this as when I used to have an overdraft I once had a charge waived.
Sorry for rambling on, but what do I do now? £63 for 18p just doesn't make sense

I think sadly after yesterdays ruling you are goiing to have to pay it. Yours is a great example of why yesterdays ruling was such a travesty. The bank have seen an easy way to make money out of you and they have taken it. See you bank manager and explain the situation and hopefully they may be understanding.
All you can do after is vote with your feet. As soon as I had paid off my overdraft I changed banks.0 -

This is a classic case of where consumers are missing the point. This was NOT the fault of the bank, your complaint should be with Tesco, and you should be asking them to repay the charge on your behalf, not having a go at the bank.I am an Honest Banker, giving honest advice to honest customers each day, we're all trying to make an honest living.:A0 -

If the OP actually informed the bank what had happened, and they could obviously see the two transactions I thought they would refund the charges. That just seems like common sense to me.
Then again this was NOT the fault of the bank. I'd try and explain to Tescos I think you'll have at least a chance of some compassion. Perhaps Tesco could pay the charges then kick up a fuss about the amount.
Can I just finally add that although there are many people on here, myself included, who are pretty crap at personal finance, it doesn't mean we are thick. This being the case there is no real need for BANKERS to reply with the rules. We know them but find them difficult to adhere to.0 -
Thanks for the replies, I am already trying to go through Tesco just now.
My main problem is the fact it's £63 for 18p
In reply to honest banker, I obv realise it is Tesco's fault, but still think there's no way £63 worth of work is being done by the bank for going me 18p overdrawn. Charge me £5, would still be a bit annoyed, but £63 is just ridiculous.0 -

No, You're the one missing the point sonny.
What was the point of your post. You have not helped the OP.
Why can you not explain how the terms and conditions of her account relate to the issue?
Pass the buck, that's all your good at.
You sound like some child in a play ground, "it's not my fault, it was those other boy's Miss".
BTW, There are other bankers on reclaim sites and a particular ex banker who have been so incredibly helpful and patient to people, devoting hours without asking for thanks.
Guess you are not one of them, pity that. Don't hang around banker (found it difficult to write the first part of your name). So move on.Please ignore those people who post on this forum who deliberately try to misinform you. Don't be bullied by them, don't be blamed by them. You know who I mean.
You come here for advice, help and support- thats what I and like minded others will try to do.0 -
