Boots no7 free gift bag question please!

Hiya, probs not the wrong forum but you guys who love boots usually lurk about here :P Just have a wee question...

Basically I had a bit of a run in with a boots sa tonight! lol I had spent like £50 or something at the boots party on no7 stuff so I had put two of the free no7 gift bags (when you spend £22) into my basket as I was positive I had read on here that they come off for every £22 you spend... Anyway the sa said to me I could only have one and I was like 'are you sure? I was told they come off per £22 and the sign just says you get a free gift for spending £22 in a single transaction... so I have spent that twice in a single transaction so surely it will come off?'

Anyway she was pretty adamant, there was getting a huge queue (the boots event was MOBBED lol) and she basically refused to even try  so I gave in eventually...

I am just wondering now if maybe I was wrong afterall and made a fool of myself? lol I was SURE I had read on here though about a story of a woman who convinced her friend to go up with like 6 bags and she didnt think she would get them but did..

Anyway just to clarify and if I could have done I will send them an email lol.

Hope someone can help!!

could you not have split your shopping into 2 lots and then you could have had 2 freebies that way, if its one per transaction
  • Well I woulda had to have bought loads more cause I was only really spending it in order to get the £12 points if you know what I mean so it wouldn't even be worth my while spending another 50quid just to get it...

Thats not really the point though lol, i was so sure that you got one per £22 and had read stories on here of it (cant find any now mind u haha) and was quite annoyed she wouldnt even put it through... my cousin was dragging me away mind u hahah "she works here she knows" im like NOOOO MSE SAYS OTHERWISE lolol

Why would you have had to spend loads more?

You get refunded for the whole lot, then split the goods into 2 lots, so you get a free gift bag with each lot.

  • I haven't done it, but you are right. I too have read on here that the till will give one GWP with every £22 spent. It doesn't work online though.

OP is saying it was one of the discount nights, spend £50 & get £12 points.

I am sure I read it on here too.
  • i get what you are saying with the £50 and extra points, but i think it is the case of one per customer regardless of spend so you would have to split your transaction and loose the points bonus or loose the second bag. :(
It only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'

  • in my boots it does not work, although I only put one in my basket and she said put them through in two separate transactions and get two gifts, which is what I did. Doesn't help if you are trying to spend over £50 to get your £12 worth of boots points though. It clearly says though in a single transaction and thats the key. If other boots stores have done it, I guess they are lucky.

Because I bought the stuff on 342 and it was at our Christmas Event so I was purchasing 3x no7 items that were on 342 and equaled over £40. If I split it into 2 transactions in order to get the extra bag I was entitled to, I would lose my 342 and would also lose the £12 extra points - so that would defeat the whole purpose.

Yeh normally I would not have even considered or thought of it, but I was just pretty sure I had seen it on here from a few people and though that if it works in one boots stores till it would surely work on all the till systems... lol

OP stated they were only spending the £50 in order to get the £12 of extra points that you get on the Xmas Shopping Event evenings. Splitting the transaction in two meant they would not get the bonus points - well, thats how I read it anyway. If they took the items back & got a refund, the points are taken off, too (unless you manage to spend them before you get a refund, I don't think you can have a minus balance on your card!)

To the OP, I'm sure I've read the same somewhere on the posts about multiple bags in one transaction. Sometimes these things are just down to the SA on the day, some are happy to try things, others treat it like its their own personal property! It can just be the luck of the draw as to who serves you. The best ones to try are places like the photographic or chemist counter, they seem to know less about what goes on in the rest of the store & will try it - if the till says yes then you've won!!
