I know that if my job had just been bailed out by the public I wouldn't be on public forums telling them what !!!!!! they are.

Natweststaffmember. What did you get sacked from the bank for?

Leaking information of a confidential information without authority.

Remember last December when the BBC posted about RBS "pro actively" refunding customers should they lose the test case? That one was most definitely me who passed the information on.
The bank traced the source and sacked me as well as for the article in August 2008 in which the bank were told by the OFT that their terms were unfair.
Before anyone asks, I worked for the bank from 1998 and I have been within the bank charges campaign since June 2006.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009

NWSM...do you still work in the banking industry? Did you find it difficult to get another job due to the reason for dismissal?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
  • if you want respect on the front line then tell your boss's to be fair with their customers! i was hounded and hounded by bank sales persons calling at all ours of the day and night one at 4 am in the morning by barclays at one point to take out life insurance, i declined knowing i cant be covered because i have an excistsing condition but popping allong to see an advisor one day about my account the advisor tried pitching life insurance to me i agreed went through the deatils and my condition answer was no we cant cover you eventhough i told her i couldnt be covered because of my health n the fisrt instance of her trying to sell me it.

i had payment protection on my loan so in the event that i lost my job through illness the paymants would me paid (or at least the intrest) i lost my job through illness (because of my existing condition) and guess what no coverage because its an excisting condition wich i had told them about when i got the loan and queried the payment protection when i took the loan because of my condition and was told "payment protection would cover you in the event you lost your job through illness weather its an existing condition or newly devolped condition" after phoning bank to query why no coverage and told them what bank advisor had told me they still refused to cover me and when requesting to have the payments back for the coverage as i was effectively mis-sold the payment protection i was refused because i should have read the terms and cons'
if i had not been told by the advisor in bank i was covered i wouldnt have taken the protection, my loan payments would of been cheaper and i wouldnt of struggled to pay it i'm glad it payed up and done and dusted now.

i am suffering hardhip at the moment because of loseing my job through my illness, being paid a small amount of ssp while ill off work made it hard to make my commitments then makeing the transition of comeing out of work onto benefits made me miss payments on my utlities the banks chrged me £26 per dd failure 3x £15 per month for each direct debit for exceeding unplanned o/d and a £20 monthly unplaned od fee, my child tax credits are lower because of no working child tax credits and it took 4 months to finally get paid back dated benefits wich i had to pay my commitments back dated,
by this time i am so deep in the bank charge cycle i cant get out of it, my utlities have increased i have three children and barely scrape enough money to food shop direct debits are failing as money is being taken in by charges all the time.

i called the bank and told them of my change of status when i fell too ill to work, so they know i'm currently on benefits, i have called them about the charges and to help manage my account the best i got was a advisors meeting just to be advised to manage my money better! the money i got comeing in i cant manage because its not mine all is swallowed by bankcharges and utilities.

so dont come in here and start telling us how us the public annoy you because your on the frontline you cheeky ****** *******. put yourself in someone like mine and other of thousends of people like me in my position, be lucky you stil have a job in this climate and now the banks are downsizeing i hope your one of the first employees to go and be in the position of thousends in the country. many thousends of people are not hopeing to get the charges back to go on holiday thousends of people are hopeing to get them charges back to pay off the debt caused by the banks charges in the first place.

we are not customers to the banks we are easy PREY to make a huge proffit from and bonus's.
  • Honest Banker, as you can tell your comments have not come across too well. I do have to say as soon as I read the comment about "fully protected" and something covering unemployment, illness etc, etc, it reminded me of PPI which is exactly how that was (mis)sold. Furthermore, targets in branch banking do not drive service they drive the seller looking for £££££ in bonus. When I went into another bank where I have an account stating I wanted to reduce outgoings since my income went down in February, they tried to sell me home insurance. Sometimes, this is the problem, you can't have it both ways.
People very rarely open an account with the sole intention of incurring charges but when they do they are naturally angry because something has gone wrong. Some people may not express themselves that well but when other things outside of financial matters has gone wrong it becomes a spiral of negative issues. Then they speak to their helpful bank who tells them that it is in fact their fault entirely without ever explaining how the charges work so that they can avoid them in future. It's disappointing that a bankworker comes on here and simply spouts that stuff again and again and again.
Nice try but you are dishonest not to think for yourself on the Supreme Court decision. You are dishonest because you cannot think or post anything negative on the forum, even if you believed that to be the case, because your contract does not allow it(comments on the internet).
Please read the OFT test case things and other documents like the OFT personal current account study. Read the things where people have thought about taking their own lives.
Then tell me you are honest because honest and banker are very rare qualities.
That's my lot on this thread and other procrastinating threads because people who need genuine help and advice would be missed. And for the OP, get your CV up to date, you may well deserve a better job but you won't get it in banking.

If it was so awful why didnt they close my account down? Why didnt they stop the account do it can't go overdrawn? why didnt they stop all my cards? Because if they did that then they would not have made a single penny out of my situation.

I believe this is exactly why people get so many charges : why didn't YOU stop using your account ?

Stop using my account? How is that possible? Should I ask my eomployer to pay with with a cash in a wheel barrow that I hide under my bed?

You are totally missing the point. Have you ever seen some of those old Robin Hodd stories where the Sheriff comes along and takes all the grain leaving the people starveing. The point is that on ONE month of my life I went overdrawn. If the bank had allowed me to pay back that money in three or even two simple installments I would have been fine. Instead the next time my wages went in they took all the money they wanted out. Direct debits hit and then it was in a pattern.

You are totally missing the point of whats being said. In comparison other places which they needed money worked out a payment plan that I could afford. The bank refused to do this.

A perfect example of "biting the hand that feeds you".
For them to trace it back to you; you must have been letting your mouth go at work and drawn attention to yourself?
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.
