I have an old upvc back door the lock is giving me some trouble is it possible to buy a new lock for a upvc door and are they difficult to fit?

hi is it the lock is stiff or damaged ? if stiff just oil it, if it is damaged you can get a new one and fitting literaly is removing 1 screw pull the lock out slide ne one in and refit screw.

I think its damaged sometimes it locks othertimes I have to lock it from the outside and go in the front door! thanks for the advise

sounds like you need a new lock like above then, on the lock side you will see a single screw with a + head remove this and put the key in the lock turn it about 30 degrees and wiggle it it will come out then do the reverse to fit the new one jobs done

I went to a back street double glazing company with my old lock, and asked if they had any from scrap doors. Much to my surprise, they found one, and better still,gave it to me.

nice stroke of luck, incase anyone else is interested you can get the euro locks in B&Q Warehouses too. They don't sell them in supercenters or mini warehouses.

cjw 118, I think you have helped me as well. My dad has handles similar to those on the site you provided. There is nothing wrong with the window itself just the handle. Saves calling someone in to have them say OOOHHH dear can't get them any longer love - you will have to have new windows!
