I'm trying to enrol for Halifax Secure (i.e. the Verified By Visa service) but when I go to the enrolment page it asks me to supply either my Mothers maiden name or a password that I supplied at the opening of my account. The problem is I didn't supply a password or my Mothers maiden name when I opened the account.
What do I need to do to enrol as I don't have the information required?

Halifax secure seems the most pointless thing ever.
Its optional for companies to use it, which sort of defeats the point0

There's some FAQs here which might help? :-
 http://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/secure_faqs.asp
The security questions when you enrol are generally freestanding - so there should be no read across to those when you set up the account which backs up your VISA card. But it's easier to set up on the Halifax site than be forced to do so if a merchant prompts you - you used to be able to opt out, but that seems to have disappeared.
When you do register - you will notice your available balance diminish by £2.50 when the merchant service that provides Halifax secure 'checks' your card. The £2.50 will never materialise as a debit - but it does take up to 10 days to disappear.
