hi all i put my claim into halifax in aug 2007 and it was put on hold i have been suffering servere hardship but cos my account was closed they would nt pay out i suppose ive no chance now am i right ????????

It's not looking good for any payouts now. The best thing to do is just sit tight (hard I know) and hope that all the legal bods can work something out.
You can bet your life that Martin Lewis, and everyone else involved in this case from all other websites are currently looking through the tons of paper work to see if there is anyway the banks can be held responsible for these unfair and excessive charges.0 -

Can I ask if you are in severe financial hardship today and have you spoken to your bank provider recently?
Even under the financial hardship waiver I would have agreed that it wasn't financial hardship in 2009 since the original date was August 2007.0 -

I don't see how anything has changed, imo. The OFT lost their argument about fairness, but that has nothing to do with many of the claims currently pending.
Just remeber that the original argument was about the charges being reasonable and proportionate to the costs incurred by the bank. They are not and that is why they are illegal under consumer contract law.0 -
