Help with new car

Hi,

I'm finally selling the GTA as I need somthing a little more practical. I've decided on an Audi estate with one of the larger petrol engines (i've made no bones about my dislike of diesels on here!) I prefer the BMW estates both 5 and 3 series but as i'll be using the car to transport my mountain bikes and other outdorsy things the quatro from Audi would be more useful for me.

I like both the A4 and A6 avants and would be going for something around 6 years old as I still run another car which requires most of my income to just keep on the road! I know the only real choices are the 3.0 V6 and the newer 3.2 fsi which are both fine however, I've noticed the A6 had a 2.7 turbo for a time that's slightly more powerful and I assume torquey? Does anyone have any experience of these engines?

I've already decided on a manual as I'm not happy with the reliabily of the CVT and conventional autos. Does anyone have a view on this as I'd prefer an auto but just put off by the reliabilty. Any help appreciated.
