Temporary car insurance
I am picking up my new car tomorrow, so have transferred my cover for my existing car to the new car.
I am going to sell my car privately and have been getting quotes for temp. cover.
The cheapest for 2 weeks I can get is £75.
Is there anything wrong in taking out a new annual policy, and then cancelling when I have sold the car?!?!
I have done a quote, and got it for £170 for the year - think I have made an error though as I have included my no claims - do I have to state that I have ncd?
Thanks in advance

You can usually only claim ncb discount on the one policy (unless you have already earned it on two separate policies)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Nothing wrong at all.
But check the cost of cancelling - it may still be cheaper to do the short term insurance, as apart from not getting a full pro rata refund, there will be a cancellation charge to pay as well.0 -
I can't believe it is going to cost me £75 for 2 weeks, for it to sit on my drive!!
Anyone know of any alternatives?
I did quotes for an annual policy, with no claims, and its about £330 per annum, with the excess at the highest....boo hooo
Did ring my insurance company - could offer me 3 years no claims at the grand sum of 373!!! £100 more than my original policy0 -
See if your current insurer will let you just add it to your policy for 2 weeks.0

I'm doing the exact same.
Insurance moved to new car but current car not yet sold.
Direct Line are charging me £76 per month for my existing car.
Given that it's still fully comp insured I've used it a couple of days rather than pay the insurance just to have the car sit idle.
Incidentally, you don't say what type of car so there's no way you can judge if my £76 for a month is good compared to your £75 for a fortnight.
My £76 is for a BMW Z4 3.0SE worth approx £12 (for sale if anyone is interested !:))
I reckoned fully comp insurance on a month to month basis wasn't too bad for £76.
