hi all, i recently parked in lymm services as i was meeting 3 friends to travel to birmingham together in one car, i parked up by mcdonalds, where we all grabbed a brekfast roll, then jumped in mates car and set off for brum for the day, didnt see any signs about parking although i didnt really look as i thought it would be fine to leave car there all day, anyway a week later i got a letter from BPA parking eye, parking charge notice for £80 , £50 if paid in 14 days if not it will be the £80 plus £30 admin charge, i see on forums everyone says ignore they will go away but as a first timer would like to know if anyone dealt with these before, i must add none of the three other people saw any parking signs either:rolleyes:

I've not been in Lymm services (although afaik it's a Truck Stop anyway) as I live fairly close.
Although - every services I've been in DOES have signs that say "free parking for 2 hours only"
If you go back you should probably find it, when you actually enter the car park, or on the slip road off the M60 -
As has been said a thousand times before, ignore it completely as well as what other letters come from them, they will eventually fade awaymake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Its not a fine, its a scam. Expect letters from parking eye then a few from "debt collectors" and "solicitors" who will try to scare you into paying. Ignore them all and they will eventually give up.0

i hope they do, just wondered if anyone had ignored this particular company, when u say solicitors will they actually be solicitors or pretend letters from bpa:(0

They will be using a "real", though tame solicitor. But just ignore as already advised.0

Loads of threads on MSE but you have to search Parking Eye with capital initials. MSE forum searches are case-sensitive.
Loads of results as well if you Google Parking Eye.
Ignore the scammers and don't worry. Bromsgrove Barry posted an amusing newspaper editorial link on another thread about Parking Eye only today - but for some reason my link isn't working so you'll need to read other threads to find it.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Parking Eye are a feeble, easily ignored company.
Would have thought it would have been CP Plus at Lymm. Maybe they've changed? Anyway, same advice applies to the clowns at CP Plus.0 -
Welcome! *PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING*
Please start a new thread for your case (if you post in the discussion threads your post will not be seen by many) and take a look at these two threads which will be of assistance:List of Terms/Acronyms/Abbreviations Used on this Board
How to Upload & Post Images (PCN/NtO/other paperwork)
1) SCAN the PCN (front and back) together with any other paperwork (200dpi should be fine). Pictures of the parking bay/signs/lines will also help.
2) BLANK out personal details (i.e. PCN serial number, car registration number, any name/address details) using Paint or equivalent image editing program to remove appropriate details.
3) UPLOAD to image hosting site and link from your thread - simply copy and paste the "direct link for layout" link which looks something like this: http://tinypic.com/xxxxxxxxx.jpg.For detailed help with scanning, erasing and uploading, please see this thread:4) MENTION which council issued the PCN/NtO if you're unable to scan paperwork.
How to Upload & Post Images (PCN/NtO/other paperwork)
1) PPC tickets (referred to by some as toilet paper) are NOT fines or fixed penalties, they are invoices based on a presumed contract with the driver.
2) When posting, please don't mention your vehicle make/model or exact location and most importantly do NOT say who was driving. PPC trolls do read these and other forums and may try to use this information against you. Do not post any info that may identify you. It isn't usually necessary to post the 'ticket' from a PPC.
3) PPC charges have been shown to be generally unenforceable in Court, and they hardly ever issue proceedings, despite the threats in their intimidatory letters.
4) Do NOT write to the PPC to 'appeal' the ticket - the appeals process is a complete sham, they just want your money and thus will reject the 'appeal'.
5) If you don't take action on the ticket, the PPC will get the registered keeper's details from the DVLA, for a fee of £2.50. The registered keeper has no liability, since the presumed contract was formed with the driver. And, if you don't tell the PPC who was driving, they don't have a case.
6) Ignore the ticket completely until they've bought your details from the DVLA (costs just £2.50) and write to the registered keeper. Opinions vary on whether to send a template letter in reply or simply ignore all correspondence, however, anecdotal evidence from this forum and Pepipoo indicates that with the 'ignoring everything' option they will give up after a few scary looking letters and false threats of bailiffs/CCJs/credit record entries.
(thanks to bargepole for help in compiling the PPC section above)
