Any alternative to MS Money??

A few months ago I was briefly using MS Money to help me get to grips with my finances. I made the mistake of buying my copy off Ebay, and the copy I got was almost certainly a fake. Then I my laptop died, and when I wanted to re-install Money on my new laptop I discovered I no longer had the CD .
So now I'm looking to replace it. I've just been looking on Amazon, and was alarmed to see the customer comments included many variations on "useless", "waste of money", "unreliable", "not impressed", etc., giving it a star rating of 2 our of 5. I must say that I didn't find it easy to get to grips with in the short period that I used it. Is there any alternative? I know that Quicken is now no longer available in a UK version. I've got plenty of spreadsheets that help me a lot, but some software that really understands how I ought be doing my accounting would really help. What's the answer?
PS sorry if this is not the best forum for my question!

Did you actually find MS Money at all helpful? Personally I found I spent a long time setting everything up and identifying my payments and it didnt really provide any pluses over just checking my accounts online - prehaps it is because I only have 1 current account, 2 savings and 3 credit cards that I dont have enough accounts to have problems keeping track esp as the credit cards are only ever used for large purchases and then paid in full the next month. All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

You can always get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than with just a kind word.0

I'm not really sure, to be honest. I put my lack of results down to my lack of knowledge of the software or financial practices, so I was doing my best to persevere. I suppose the best indicator was that I didn't give up my Excel spreadsheets - I was running the two side-by side.
Skint1 - are you using YNAB? Does it cope with UK scenarios??£2 coin savers club: £1.49
