  • apart from the charity shop, kemps wool is a great cheap place to get wool http://www.kempswoolshop.com/wool_specials.aspx

I really wished I didn't see that link, the yarns are very cheap, and I ended up buying loads!!!
  • I really wished I didn't see that link

Me too, am now hankering for bamboo tape and teal aran! Have sent the link round to everyone in my knitting club so it may well all go soon!

Was way chuffed today, one of the women I know through work dropped off a bin bag FULL of spare balls of wool that she was going to throw away, although it is all scraps, theres some gorgeous, expensive yarns in there- i feel a lot of stripey sock knitting coming on!:j

Also, have decided to take the plunge and join in the challenge, although I havent yet had chance to work out my budget- promise to do it before new year! I have finally worked out my personal debts though, and have made a rather excellent spread sheet to keep track of incomings, outgoings and my overall balances!

so nyk add me please! Skint Jenny

    :beer:Roll on 2010!!

I'm still messing about with my 2010 budget but will get it done and dusted before 01/01/10, I promise. :o 13 days and we're there!
I reserve the right not to spend.

  • :jdead excitey now! bring on frugal 2010, the magical year of the tiger, and of debt busting, super saving and a total rebirth of my finaces:j
  • I remember getting my electricity meter (free offer from D**ly Ma*l) I went into work next day and the TA I work with was so excited as she had got hers too. We had both spent the entire evening testing everything. She then confided that her DH had even taken it upstairs to bed to look at in the night but was disappointed to find it didn't have a back light so he couldn't read it without switching on the bedside light - which defeats the object. I had to tell her that I had done exactly the same thing:o

I still find it useful for monitoring if something has been left on, e.g. the iron or the heater or soldering iron in DH's workshop. Just that has saved me a forture. If a manufacture would invent an iron with an automatic 'stand by' setting after say, 10 mins, I would buy it!
Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......

    Hello mad fellow frugallers!
Just to say I'm getting ridiculously overexcited about the start of this challenge. My little frugal thing I did yesterday was to restick a gift bag that someone had just chucked onto the pavement which I found on the way to work. That's joined my gift wrapping stash. I'm also monitoring my response to seeing something I want- I went to a colour therapy talk earlier this week and the speaker had some gorgeous smoky quartz pendulums for sale. I've always quite fancied having one [says she who already has dowsing rods which she rarely uses:D] and a couple of years ago I'd have just handed over £8.50. This time though I took a step back and realised that the quality of my life wasn't going to be improved by simply buying something that temporarily appealed to me and I was able to put it back quite easily. It's amazing how quickly though my brain can turn a want into a need and provide justification- it takes a matter of seconds but just having that awareness of the process if proving very helpful:D
