The reason the council won't help will also be because your partner is not effectively homeless, as he has a roof over his head at the moment. If he moved out onto the streets they would see him as making himself intentionally homeless.
Resources are so few and far between that they have to be tough.
If the hostels by you are anything like those I am involved in up here, you do not want him in one.
Best bet prob rented privately where he can claim housing benefit and maybe get a loan from the social to get himself settled in the short term.0 -
Thanks guys. Some people seem to think that once a relationship is over you shouldn't still care about the other person, I am a human being with a heart and a conscience. However, living together after the relationship has finished can be difficult as both parties wish to move on but cannot do so in these circumstances.Watch out people. You don't know what lurks around the corner for you![/SIZE]0

I agree with PP that he should rent a room, Housing benefit will cover this and he can get a crisis loan out to fund a deposit for this. Should be fairly cheap for the deposit anyway0

Is this a joint tenancy?
If yes, then he's not homeless! And if he leaves, he is still liable under the terms of the tenancy.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac
