I've been awarded DLA!!!

Options
I got notification today! I have been awarded DLA...Lower Rate Mobility and Lower Rate Care!

I applied in May, and even though DIAL had helped with the forms I was refused. DIAL asked them to look at the forms again...I was refused again. So, DIAL handled all the work for my appeal....I didn't even have to attend any hearing!

This makes such a difference...it's not just the money - although God knows that will be useful for all the little things that help me live a relatively 'normal' life (some of the time! Let's be honest, there are days when nothing is going to make me 'normal' in other peoples eyes!) - but it's the fact that they finally seem to believe me! (at least until renewal time!...they never make this easy for us do they!)

And I'll get it backdated to May.....actually May to November, it's all gone through relatively quickly - not that it seemed like it at the time.

Can't thank DIAL enough!

And is it normal to be feeling tearful just because I've got something I'm entitled to?

I think many people feel the way you do. I was like it when I got awarded it too.

    Congratulations!

Congratulations & yes it's normal to feel tearful. Not only is all the stress involved in trying to claim dla behind you, but after being turned down previously, there is usually a relief in finally being believed that your day to day life is restricted & affected by your disability to warrant a payment of dla.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Well done for persevering with it! After all the stress it causes, being tearful sounds about right to me. Thanks for letting us know, it's always good to hear of a happy ending. C.C.L.
