Short dishwasher

Options
DH and I are expecting baby next year and we're looking to free up some space in our teeny kitchen. At the moment we've got a tabletop dishwasher which takes up about a 3rd of our worktop space. We also have loads of cupboard space which we don't use. Our plan is to remove the drawers from under the worktop next to the sink which would enable us to pop in a slimline dishwasher. There's no problems with the width however it would seem we have low counter tops as all the dishwashers appear to be about 85cm tall. We could manage to put in one up to about 78cm tall. I've done a fair bit of web searching but not come up with any short dishwashers at all and was wondering if any of you have had this problem, have any solutions or know of any short dishwashers?

Thanks

Muso

Standard height is about 85 cms so I think you are going to struggle.
Have you searched for dishwashers that 'stand' on the work top
  • Yes, we currently have a tabletop dishwasher but it's taking up too much space.

Just an idea , place 'table top' beneath work top .
  • Thanks. That could work. We would have to make a shelf to put it on but will certainly consider that if we can't find a big one to fit. Would be nice to have a decent size one for Christmas. Last year I ended up running 5 loads on Christmas day!

No sob stories about washing up Xmas day , I am cooking for eleven
And yes the dishwasher runs none stop!

As you must have gathered , white goods are a standard size to fit standard kitchens .
Makes buying 'easy' because we know that the common size is 600 cm
wether its fridge/ freezer /tumble dryer/oven or dishwasher

and soon as you change size , price goes up , Slim line dishwasher ,is more expensive than full size!

I wonder why your worktop is lower ??

MSE answer.... tell Mr MG to do the washing up by hand!! Your problem solved and the lucky Mr MG avoids having to endure queen's speech on christmas day!
