Got an email but looks a bit dodgy!!

lol, if it doesn't tell you what you've won or anything else like, odds are its a scam

However it won't hurt to reply. Try replying and ask for more details from them before you give any of your own, such as ask what it is you've won.

Doing a google search for sbcglobal seems to show its an american suffix for an email carrier known as AT&T. I'd say stay away from it altogether. If it were a proper company they'd have their own registered suffix for the address(usually company/promoter name), not one which anyone who uses AT&T could get.

Yea I think its a scam his email when I replyed was mrstevebryan09@windowslive.com and it popped up on some Spanish website. Have emailed back but will forget about it. Never mind, cheers guys

Think about it, even if you had won a Toyota draw, would someone email you from an email address that's not a Toyota one?

This is what's known as an advance fee fraud or sometimes a 419 fraud after the Nigerian penal code that covers it because a lot of the frauds are operated by people there. Google 419 scam and see what comes up.

Never reply, never send your details, just delete them.

Basically what they want you to do is give them information to contact you so they can persuade you've really won a prize. This will always mean that you have to pay some kind of fee to receive it - shipping costs, legal fee's etc. Obviously there is no prize, they just scam people out of money.

They setup email addresses using webmail systems like Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo Mail, AOL etc and wait for people to reply. A lot now even setup phone numbers called Non Geographic Numbers in the UK which redirect to them in China, India, Affrica etc. These numbers look like mobile numbers (07 something) and even 0870 numbers too as well.

I hate this kind of thing - a friend of mine's parents were scammed out of about £2000 by one of these type of mails so I make it my mission to report as many as I can to the correct people.

If you want to be thorough, forward the whole email as an attachment (including headers) to [EMAIL="abuse@sbcglobal.net"]abuse@sbcglobal.net[/EMAIL] or in future, abuse@ whatever email address the scammer is asking you to reply to.

Yes, I would say a scam. When you enter competitions for larger prizes, you normally fill all those details in anyway !!!
