Can you plese help us ,we have recently had a phone call from a company called Bryantandbrown .co.uk claiming that they can recover thousands back on our credit cards because the banks have illegally put payment protection cover on our cards and that the government have a substantial amount of money to pay back the customers going back to 2006.I need to find out pronto if this is true ,like a numpty i have given details to this company about our credit card details as we are in dire straits with our finances ,this company we have checked on the computer seem viable they have a data protection licence and consumer credit licence cover ,but need more info ,should i stop this going ahead .Thank you

Yes ofcourse you should stop it going ahead!
1 - IF you can claim PPI mis selling then you can easily do so yourself - but there is no way a company can tell from looking at their computer that it has been missold!
2 - this company will charge you a large fee - either up front or as a % of your refund - why would you pay them to send about 2 - 3 letters? The letters are freely available on here...
3 - if you are in trouble with your finances then please post your statement of affairs on here so we can help you address the cause and help you in the long term instead of finding a VERY short term solution
