    Hi
It's possible to do the conversion.
You'll always lose some quality when converting from wma to mp3.
You might not notice much difference though if you're listening with earbuds.
    Try it for yourself.
A program that I use for converting is WinFF, but there are lots of others too.
WinFF is a free download from here:-http://winff.org/html_new/

It's not possible to convert from one lossy format to another without losing something in the process. As pointed out though, whether or not you'll notice a difference is a separate issue.

Surely you can convert from wma to mp3 in Windows Media Player?

It will depend on a lot of factors like the bitrate used and the quality (number of passes etc) of the encoding.

IIRC wma will be better than mp3, all other variables being equal. But it's not recognised by as many devices.

just make sure you convert the .wma to a .mp3 of identical bitrate to minimise signal quality loss (do it in batches of identical bitrate files).

itunes can do this for you if you set it in the import preferences

I'm a Mac guy, but I've just had a look on one of our Windows machines, and I can't see a way to do it. It seems very odd that there's no method to convert from one format to another.

A wma file will sound better then an mp3 created from a wma file. This is nothing to do with the merits of each format however; it just due to the information lost in the conversion process.
