Cheeky Cow!

Hi. I sold a lovely Top Shop top on ebay for £3.08 (yes that's all) and the buyer complained & asked for a refund because there were a few sequins missing (there weren't although I don't know how she could tell because they were sewn randomly on a patterned fabric) and there was a small hole in it (there wasn't). I replied saying no prob and could she post it back. I emailed again because I hadn't rec'd it and she replied saying "..I didn't realise you wanted it back, just assumed a refund would be given. Will postage costs be refunded as well? Will try to get to post office at w/end can I have your address".

I have ignored her ignorance and bad manners and not argued just said no problem the first time and yes to a refund of P&P. But I am really angry with her because
1 there was nothing wrong with the top.
2 she's probably already worn it
3 she's going to leave me neg feedback.

I know it sounds trivial but I've always been honest in my ebaying and this has really upset me.

Does anyone have some advice?

Stressed xx

Don't let the situation upset you. You'll always get the odd one or two buyers like this.

Before refunding the buyer, just make sure the top is in the same condition as you sent it.

Be polite to her. But if she continues being rude or uses an aggresive tone, don't take it. Give the same back to her.

And about the negative feedback, tell her so what. Even if you do care about your feedback, don't show that to her.

I get buyers like this all the time, and I never take any !!!! from them. Still got 100% feedback :)
  • Stressed,

If its any consolation, we had a buyer that bought an item, and as far as we were concerned, happy with her purchase but never left feedback.

One day my wife just posted a quick 'is everything ok' email and she demanded a refund as it had broken a fortnight after she'd bought it. (bear in mind this is now 2 months since she bought the item!)

She then got aggressive saying refund me or I neg you. We said fine post the item back and we'll check it out etc. Not heard a thing.

There are too many people who think that by threatening a neg feedback that sellers will fold in to their demands. Unfortunately for ours I play alot of poker so bluffing doesn't work!

    Hi OP,

This is awful, what horrible people.

It always amazes me that so much stress is caused over something that costs them £1.99. Just what is the point!?

There's this belief now that EVERYTHING in life has to be right, first time, and that there's no learning curve in anything at all. We're all born experts.

A fair number of people out there are mentally ill and have some pretty serious social issues. Particularly ones who think they should get Gucci for 99p on eBay, and then complain that they didn't. "Sod off!"

So sorry to hear about your top, that is not fair. :(

Well.... those people are not entirely to blame. (Although naive / daft / whatever.)

The rules say you can't list fakes on ebay... so if they're bidding on Gucci, they should get Gucci!
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

Who mentioned fakes? There's a complete lack of basic common sense out there. Personally if I paid 99p for a Gucci and it was fake, I'd be over the moon. True money saver indeed.

just wanted a little rant about an ebayer AAAAAAAAArRRRRRRRRGGGGGHHH
phew I feel better now :)

    I have a 100% positive feedback of over 1000, so I can't be all that bad ;)
and then someone has just added to my feedback that delivery was slow and there was a lack of communication....arrrrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhh

I cant be expected to be on the internet every minute of the day (we went away for a whole THREE days) so I didn't respond to emails. The person was asking where the package was, I had sent it and I presume its been lost in the post. As the item was was brought for a birthday gift I decided to send a replacement and chase the post office up myself and gain the refund. (which takes time and I have not had the refund todate).

Eventhough I did this he still leaves me a feedback like that :(

Why is it with some people you can bend over backwards and they just don't realise the hassle you go through :(

My son has just sold a cricket bat on ebay - stated in the listing that it had a crack that had been professionally repaired (so it wouldn't affect it's performance). It was originally a £140 bat that he sold for £35. It sold at 11pm one night and I posted it the next morning (even upgraded to Special Delivery for no extra charge since it was only a quid dearer than parcel post).

I couln't believe it when a few days later this miserable git (who had an double-barrelled name and the address was a stately home/castle!!!- yes the entire castle, not just an apartment! ) had left neg feedback complaining about the crack without even emailing to try and sort it out!Aaaargh! Now 100% positive feedback score is ruined and 15 year old son feels pretty gutted and guilty that he's done something wrong! It was a damn good bat for £35 - just got too small for a lad who's growing at a fast rate!

Why DO these people bother buying stuff off ebay?
