bailiffs threatening text....urgent help needed

please somebody advise me on what to do. i was supposed to pay a bailiff today but just didnt have enough to. he phoned me and i asked him to phone me back later on as it was inconvenient to talk....later on this afternoon he sent me the following text message.........your details are being passed to the removal team as it seems you are avoiding me. when they attend they will have the police and a locksmith on standby all these charges will be added to your fine if you dont have enough goods to cover the costs then a no bail arrest warrent can be issued and this could result in criminal proceedings. basically up to 28 days custodial scentence and still have a fine to paydue to a none payment of criminal court fine. the only way to stop this is to contact me please.......i am scared stiff now. i have been out all afternoon and have only just come home now. i have parked my car several streets away but am so so worried...what do i do?

It may be that he just wants you to get in touch with him and is trying to scare you. I would give him a call in the morning, especially if you have the money that you were to pay.

See if you can come to an arrangement with him - when will you be able to get the rest of the money? Can you make a partial payment right now?

I'm not really sure what to advise as i have no experience of bailiffs and the threads i have seen aren't non payment of criminal court fines.

The experts in here are Herbie21 adn RobertoMoir. You might be able to send a PM and hope they can get back to you, but at this time of night it might be a longshot.

Is this a fine that's just come up?
Have you been making payments towards it or did the judge just state the total amount had to be paid?

Not sure if you can apply to the court for a redetermination if you won't be able to pay the amount required.

    This is Herbie's site (kindof)
Might be worth getting in touch with them.

Not sure if they have the fees listed on there for you to view.

Herbie runs a website with a helpline, it charges but maybe your best bet is to ring her first thing in the morning? I think this is her:

Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

  • i did ring herbies site, the woman i spoke to was great but forgot to phone me back....i rang again and she took all the details to ring the bailiffs and shaid she would phone me back and didnt...i rang her again this morning and she said the woman she needed to speak to was out of the office yesterday. she rang them and rang me back to say the woman was not in till 10 am today and she would ring them then and ring me back before 11.30 as that was when she was going out for a meeting...she didnt ring me back again and i rang the number all day....56 times to be exact and every time the line was engaged
