my heating and hot water broke down this evening at 7pm(ish)i rang my housing Association and they said they would get some-one out to fix it tonight.i explained to them that my 9 year old was very sick only has one lung is asthmatic suffers lots of chest infecs so she needs heat all the time and also suffers kidney problems they said dont worry your a priorety so some-one will be with you soon then i got a call from the company who where ment to be coming out only to tell me that they will NOT be coming out untill some-time tomorrow :-( i burst into tears and rang the housing people back crying and they were angry too (not at me)and they are sending some-one out to give me some heaters for my daughter for tonight.the housing people were brilliant how ever the company who are refusing to come out were very mean and rude to me and didnt seem to care that my little girls was poorly, does any-one know how or where i can complain to about this?? or am i over-reacting??
sorry if this does not make sense.

Welcome to MSE! Write a letter of complaint to the housing association about their contractor and ask them to investigate the matter thoroughly. Might also be helpful to thank the staff at the HA who bent over backwards to get you heaters.

If your daughter is that poorly why do you not have a secondary heater yourself?
Things break down. It takes time to arrange a repair. Even if the contractor came round tonight the chances are it would be for an initial survey and it may take a day or two to make the repair or even longer to order spare parts.0 -
Thanks firefox i rang the HA again last night after the heatres came to thank them the lady was fantatic she is also angry with the contractors and inforrmed that the contractors are ment to come out with in 4 hours so she is looking into this for me she also said that there are more then one contactor covering my area. on a good note my daughter slept snug and warm!! :-) and the heaters are very small so i was able to carry them down to my front room ewhen she got up. i think i might buy one to be safe. Thanks again for your advice firefox.0

Rather than spend you own money, why not ask the HA if you can keep one for emergencies. They tend to have a stock so they may be able to spare you one especially if your daughters illness is long term.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.
