I have recently tried to purchase mechandise via Google checkout and as the supplier never dispatched the goods and went into liquidation I tried to reclaim my money from the credit card company I had used for the payment. I was unaware that I would not be covered, as Google checkout is regarded as a third party and therefore not the direct supplier of the merchandise. I have since read on the main moneysaving expert site about this and dont think enough information is generally known about this Credit Card "copout" .
Do I have any chance of getting my £700 back?

you will need to speak to the administrator of the company and stake a claim, most are doing the above even with paypal0

Sorry but you have been ill advised.
The credit card copout is law. Sorry you aint getting round that. The bank dont have to deal with claims via 3rd party such as paypal and Google etc. Thought I would like to add I know my bank does:P
You aint going to the bank claiming under section 75.
You need to speak to your bank and request a chargeback for the goods which you have not recieved. You have basically 120 days from either the transaction date and/or the expected date of delivery. YOu have stated that it has been recent you made the order so Im assuming its within this time. Here is what you need.
Covering letter detailing your dispute- what was bought include invoice if you have it.
State the expected date of delivery of the goods. Should be stated somewhere on the invoice.
You need to list your contact with the merchant to try and resolve your issue. Your details of contact or attemtped contact with the merchant and following on any information from the liquidator you have recieved.
Send in any/ all documentation you have.
Chargeback will be keyed reason code 4855- non receipt of goods( Mastercard) or reason code 30 ( Visa). Easy as that.

I was under impression you can't claim as like OP stated it's through another party handling the transaction on the merchants behalf.
I booked a holiday and it wasn't as described, I was unable to chargeback as the Holiday was with Thomas cook but booked through some online merchant handling on behalf of Thomas cook.

You were good enough to reply to my post regarding the purchase I bought with my Mastercard via Google checkout and lost £700 due to the Merchant then going bankrupt. You advised that I should claim a chargeback, but my credit card company (LLoyds TSB) are still quoting Section 75 at me and are refusing to listen. Should I be contacting my branch direct and asking them for a chargeback - please help me!

I'm a little confused, but as a user of Google Checkout/Paypal, keen to understand the relationship.
I make a purchase from a retailer but pay (via) Google Checkout and then Google Checkout pays the retailer.
If my 'contract' is with Google Checkout and Google Checkouts contract is with the (liquidated) retailer, then surely it's Googles problem if they go bust?
Can I not claim a chargeback on Google Checkout because I haven't received the goods I paid them for?0 -

If you have already asked the seller for a refund through google checkout and not got it then you should put it to google admins as well:

You should progress your claim through every avenue - make sure it is filed with administrators, through google checkout as above and as others have said through chargeback on your card. Hopefully one will come good.0 -
Yes, I contacted Google and they just advised me to contact my credit card issuer to ask for a chargeback - but my issuer (LLoyds TSB) are refusing to listen to me and dont seem to acknowledge any procedure known as "chargeback" and just keep telling me I'm not covered under Section 75. Its like banging my head against a brick wall!0
