Pre Paid Cards as Xmas Gifts - Which One is best ?

I have decided to put money on pre-paid cards as gifts for my children and their family for Xmas as i am going away for Christmas and have decided that I am not doing any shopping this year, so I'm just giving them the money.

Is there a card option where I can order 3... and load them online from my bank account and they credit fairly quickly. Mastercards are the best option I believe.

I have considered CashPlus - is this a good option? Or is there an option specifically for gifts that is a much better option?

This is popular in the US, but not here.

I remember Natwest had a Visa Electron gift card which was available from their branches. It costs just £3 I think, irrespective of the amount you load on to it (£10 - £250), but I don't know if they still do this. Haven't seen it in their branches for ages though.

With new (and not so new) money laudering laws Europe-wide I'd not 'load' a card for anyone or at least I'd not set one up then load.

Even if a relative asked me to load a card wholly in their name I'd need a good reason why.

I don't 'get' pre-paid cards. There's no situation where I could possibly benefit from having one. The fees for loading/using them don't add up.

I'd give cash, or as an alternative to cash, go to Tesco and buy some gift cards. Personally, cash is king.

my work colleges where recently thrilled to find out that the birthday voucher they gave me payed for call of duty MW2 and to hear my detailed description of the superb civilian slaughter air port scene :T:D

Jemma T is obviously an obnoxious ignorant pig that needs to get a life rather than spend her (obviously not very important) time insulting peoples questions here and assuming she knows what people should do - how horrible are you!

Cheeryoleary - Yes, I know what you mean. For me in this case it was a case of just giving them something convenient that they could shop anywhere with and I thought it was a little 'nicer' than just cash
