When is it safe to look for an altenative to NPower

I am with NPower for both gas and electricity until 31/12/09. I understand that I shall receive a £100 loyalty credit on 18/12/09. When would it be safe to start looking for my next gas/electricity provider, please?

Certainly not until you have the £100 safely credited.

By then(mid Jan?) when you apply to Switch it will be March before the change happens.

Given Npower's seasonal weighting(sculpting) it might be a good idea to wait until late summer for gas.

call them on the pretext that you are trying to organize your winter fuel budget and ask what date it will be credited to your account
