Split Rail Tickets and Reserved Seats
Does anyone know how reserved seats generally work with split tickets please? Do you usually have to change seat at the split?
I'm thinking of travelling at Christmas when the train will be absolutely rammed and I'll have lots of bags. The split will save me about £8. I'm thinking if I'm likely to need to move I might just pay up for a normal straight through ticket instead.
Thanks
Bonzer

You may need to change seats if your seat from the first section of the journey is subsequently reserved by another passenger. Otherwise only the toughest of guards will ask you to move to your reserved seat.
A way round this is to play with the online reservations system to try to get a combination of tickets that have the same seat reserved for the first and second section of the journey.
If you are travelling by CrossCountry trains then by booking on their website you can select your own seat to ensure you don't have to move.0
