I don't see the price of gold in $US, as the most important consideration. In some aspects I feel it is an irrelevance.
Here in the UK we buy in pounds sterling. The price in sterling is the crucial factor.
Which of the two currencies is the most flawed, is only going to be revealed by the market of course.
As a side issue. I feel there is room for price dips at some point, would you advise buying now, or waiting a while.
