Hi , I'm new to the world of XP and I'm missing a couple of things I found useful about ME. The first was a tray at the bottom next to Start where I could put shortcuts to favourite programmes.

The second is one of the shortcuts I had in there that once pressed shrank or hid the open programmes so I was back to my desktop.

Does anyone know how I can get the tray back and what the desktop shortcurt is please.

Thanks

Ok first of all right click the taskbar, thats the bar at the bottom of the screen, Tick show quick launch, and then drap the perferated line to the right then drag and drop any shortcuts onto that bar then relock.

I dont know what you mean about the others sorry

The "Show Desktop" button is in the quick launch bar which Quincy correctly explained how to get back.

The keyborad shortcut to get the desktop shown is
    Windows Button + D

There is another shortcut which minimises ALL open programs so u see the desktop..

    Windows Button + M

The difference is D just flicks to desktop (brings to top), M physically minimises everything.

Love the subject title of the thread too :)

No, alt + tap lets you quickly switch between open windows.
