something very strange has happened recently.
i am trying to call UK mobiles from land line using various 08444 access numbers.
I can use these (either throgh orchard dialler or directly from BT line) from my one BT line(it is fax line and used occassionaly) BUT using same arrangements from another two differant lines i can not,It appears these two lines have been blocked by these 08444 operators.
message says "you would like to call UK mobile you can not use this access number but you can do it using our 0871 number at 10p/minute"
I think we have used these two lines quite alot to make calls to mobiles at 2p to 4p minutes and the operators have blocked these CLI
I would like to find out if others have had simmilar problem.

I got a similar message recently and I think it mentioned Telediscount. Can't remember which service I was trying to use (possibly 0844calls)

It's worth pointing out that users of 18185 already enjoy 2p/min to mobiles at the weekend (5p/min weekdays).
  • The 0844calls price has now been updated - it's most probably useful to say that the UK CallChecker updates nightly, but as this change is significant, we've done an extra update!

    Thanks,

Blimey that was a five minute wonder.

I think i will stick to https://www.18185.co.uk in the future at least you dont pay until your connected to your destination mobile number, unlike these 0844 access numbers.

That seems to be the best solution. Other providers that charge less are likely to be offers that can end at any time and like you said, you don't get charged for using 18185 if the mobile is engaged, out of range, off, etc (basically not answered).
