why not cook the rice(don't rinse first to keep it starchy)drain, allow to cool and then add some bbq and sweet chilli sauce.
shape into little rounds and shallow fry.
when you get paid fill a small box with emergency value foods( 9p noodles, milk powder, value beans, value cup a soup ect)anything cheap with a long life basically.
then tape it up and don't use it until emergency strikes again.0 -
Flour and water, little sugar. Just use 2-3 heaped spoons of flour and a teaspoon of sugar (mainly for colour), then add water slowly and mix it in until the mix is dough-like. Chuck in any herbs/similar if you have them.
As it's dough-like, you can now roll this out, or just shape it, into a flattish bread, about 1.5cm high, then dry fry it in a frying pan on medium heat for about 10 minutes, turning a couple of times.
I make this as "instant bread".0 -
It's mad,but I usually don't let this kind of thing happen and we usually have stuff stored incase of emergencies - the past month has just been a bit more difficult and my head hasn't been on properly.
But thanks so much everyone ^_^
I've been away from MSE for a while, and this thread and everyones helpfulness have helped remind me why I was here in the first place.

may be wrong not got the recipe book at hand.
Choux pastry?
Maybe a savoury filling too.
sorry no just looked need eggs0 -
You could make pastry with flour, water, butter and a pinch of salt and then I reckon the cream cheese with grated carrots could make a good filling. For 92p you should be able to get a couple of spuds and an onion which would make that more interesting and filling.0

You can make a basic white sauce ( melt butter in a hot pan, add flour to make a roux then start to thin with water -should be milk or stock, but water still works.)
You could flavour the sauce with either the barbecue or the chilli sauce, & have it over the rice or spaghetti.
You can mix flour, melted butter and water into a dough, roll it out in circles, fry them off in a pan - and you have tortillas/wraps. Amazing how good anything hot from the frying pan tastes, lol.
Hope you do OK.0 -
Greenbee,we have found 92p - he's off on a long trek to Asda to see if there are any reduced things we can get so we should manage to get something out of it!
And we've not ate today so it's some food for just now (my stomach is killing me),tomorrows 3 meals and snacks then Friday breakfast, lunch - then we can go shopping.
Penelope,that dosn't sound half bad!
I think I'll try a combo of all the ideas here, see what I can rustle up.
You've all been so much help.
Thank you so,so much!
Emzycal - I have never been in this situation, but my mum told me that things used to be very tight when we were little - isn't it amazing how parents manage to keep it from you!

You can make chapatis/paratha/pooris with the flour & water, they take no time to make and are quite filling.

If you manage to find any more loose change you could get some 9p noodles & 14p jars of curry sauce from Asda.Dum Spiro Spero0 -

That really enthusiastic chef guy on telly made a nice meal with pastry and onions and butter a few nights back.
It was a square of pastry (puff but I made it with normal)...an onion sat in the middle of the square and sliced most of the way down so it was 4 quarters...into the slices a knob of butter and season well. Add a top lid of pastry and seal well with a wash and bake.
Like an odd shaped cornish pasty made with one onion.
Really nice snack..but beware the butter escaping when you cut it open.
I'm going to try it with an apple or pear too.
