Have known people to resort to dumping ( could have put that better ) at the local hospital after letters and phone call promises had been ignored.

Problem is that returned equipment has to be sterile before it can be re-issued, it's often cheaper to skip it. Elf & safety etc.


Red cross can often help with equipment such as commodes/wheelchairs. Our area they loan for up to 3 months.

Last year I had two walking sticks, commode, bath seat and zimmer frame ,
lots of promises to collect but no one ever did .

Felt guilty that the equipment so freely available to me was not available to others as it was in my garage.

Thanks for all the advice.
She could be using it for quite a while - as we can not get another toilet plumbed in due to location of Victorian sewer pipes at the house ( I think that's what the builder said).

I shall definitely be talking to the hospital before she leaves.
